District Budget Committee Meetings Underway

The first of three budget planning meetings was held at the district offices on Monday, February 22nd.  The teachers, TAs, and clericals each have a representative on the committee and have the right to ask questions about the presented budget draft.  Other members of the committee are: PTA reps, student reps, Rotary and Chamber of Commerce, Administrators, Nurses, Transportation, B& G, Student Assistance Counselors, Concerned Taxpayers rep, Disgusted Taxpayer Group Rep, and several other community groups. The meetings are open to the public.  I encourage members to attend and hear what the community and administration are saying first hand.

The first meeting was an overview followed by central office and utility line items. During the overview several important items were noted including the increase cost of the retirement systems, the increases for steps and percentages for all contracts, and the reduction in State Aid.

The next meeting will be held on March 2nd at 6:30 pm at Central Office.

25/55 Retirement

We are still waiting on the finalization of the 25/55 Retirement legislation.  As soon as the information is finalized a message will be distributed to our membership.  Click here to get involved and help push this legislation through.

Meetings begin promptly at 4:00 pm in the South High School library.

CTA Executive Council meetings are open to our membership.  Any member is welcome to attend but only building reps are allowed to vote.

Building reps - It is important that you attend the meetings or send an alternate in your place.  This is the only way your building has any representation in any discussions or decisions made.  Building Rep Guide

If you are in need of a Will, Power of Attorney, a home closing or other legal matters contact the attorney at the number below.  When you call, identify yourself as a member of the Clarkstown Teachers Association.  You will be able to set up a time to consult with the attorneys.

The Attorney available through the legal services of our Benefits Fund does assist with Foreclosures.
